Scope
Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) installation for a modern 84-apartment Multi-Dwelling Unit (MDU)
The Challenge
An 84-unit residential block in Bristol required a reliable, high-performance fibre network to support modern internet demands and smart-home readiness. The client sought:
- A full end-to-end delivery from survey and design through to final installation
- Aesthetically clean, compliant internal cabling with zero disruption to tenants
- A robust, future-proof solution to support high-speed broadband and emerging technologies
- Resolution of external duct blockages preventing network access
Our Solution
C&L Communications provided a turnkey FTTP solution, handling all works in-house to ensure quality, consistency, and speed across each phase.
Our in-house engineers conducted a detailed survey and produced a tailored cabling and infrastructure design, including:
- Internal fibre routing via risers and corridors
- Placement of closures and distribution points
- External Point of Entry (PoE) locations to transition fibre into the building
- Per-apartment fibre drop planning and containment detailing
During the pre-installation phase, we identified blockages in the external ductwork leading into the site. Our team cleared the ducts without excavation, restoring full access for fibre routing into the building.
Using structured, fire-safe containment, we installed internal cabling with minimal visual impact. Each apartment was connected with:
- A dedicated fibre line (FTTP)
- Professionally terminated Optical Network Terminal (ONT)
- Service-ready connectivity supporting gigabit+ broadband and smart home systems
The system was designed from the outset to align with current GPON standards while also supporting XGS-PON capabilities, ensuring bandwidth scalability as service demands evolve.
We worked closely with the property management company to coordinate access and minimise disruption. All works were carried out cleanly, with no impact on communal spaces and positive feedback from residents.
